Mike Gavin Media

Mike Gavin is a London based press officer and writer specialising in Blues, Folk, World music and Jazz. He grew up with the South London blues boom, attending his first concert, the Groundhogs, in the womb. At the beginning of the revival of interest in jazz in the 1980s he worked with Cadillac Distribution and Ogun records and then at Ray’s Jazz Shop. He founded Ray’s Blues and Roots, the basement department selling everything from folk to reggae, and later worked as a director of Ray’s. Recently he has worked with harmonia mundi on their world, jazz and blues projects and built a reputation as a quietly effective PR, able to use the extensive contacts gained from years involved with the music scene in London and the UK to create influential media campaigns.
